While training every cosmonaut has to pass three
stages:
-
basic training;
-
advanced training;
-
increment-specific training.
There were 401 people who worked on orbit
from 1961 to February 2006. Totally they spent 22,790 man-days on
orbit or more than 62 years.

The total number of launches of spacecraft aboard
which were cosmonauts trained in the GCTC is 127. The most flights
were performed in 1980,1997 and 2000 – 6 launches every year. There
were 8 launches in 2001. Totally 224 cosmonauts and astronauts
who completed training in the GCTC have worked on orbit, among them:
-
Krikalyov S.K performed 6 flights;
-
Djanibekov V.A., Solovyov A.Ya., Strekalov G.M. performed
5
flights each;
-
8 cosmonauts performed 4 flights each;
-
25 cosmonauts performed 3 flights each;
-
62 cosmonauts performed 2 flights each;
-
127 cosmonauts performed 1 flight each.
S.V. Avdeev had the longest space flight time - it
equals 747 days.
There were 8 orbital complexes which were
operated by 95 expeditions from 1961 to February 2001. The most
expeditions of 37 were working on the Mir orbital complex that was
flying on orbit for 5510 days or more than 15 years. The
total flight time of all Mir expedition is 12348 man-days or 33.83
years.

During manned spaceflight history 117 spacewalks
were performed. Totally cosmonauts spent 1003 man-hours (42
days) in the outer space. Solovyov A.Ya. performed the biggest number (16)
of EVAs, the total duration of which is 3 days 7 hours 2
minutes. Avdeyev S.V. and Serebrov A.A. performed 10 EVAs each.
In 2001 the cosmonauts spent the longest time
in the outer space - 15 EVAs, the total duration of which is 68
hours or 137 man-hours.
